"Erm...no thanks Miss."
I'm in a snarky mood right now, so I'll probably be snapping like an alligator that needs to eat. [Is that me, or is that a weird analogy?] anyway, I was scrolling through the usual Posts of ISD, happy to see the blog being very active once more. And then I saw a post which had about 11 comments, for the Hotbuy sunglasses my hotbuy writer had posted.
Interested to see what people thought of them, I clicked to see them, of course. the first few were okay, until I saw this one:
Why did I hire HER? Well...because people naturally make mistakes, I bet you, in that paragraph above, I have like a bajillion grammatical errors. You see, I don't judge anyone based on their spelling [unless I can't understand what they are saying...] I judge on what and how they post. Define How? You may ask, well, to be frank, I'm a person who is a 'Content' over 'Grammar' type. I usually see how people present their posts, now if they're missing a bit too much, i usually just scroll down and ignore the post, I never like, beg the person to write better. If it doesn't float your boat, just paddle it away before it sinks.
But the post was very good, in my honest opinion, It had a clear opinion, with a rating, and a real version! what more do you want? well...unless you're a grammar person who NEEDS the post to be fixed...then maybe you want more.
The writer of that post replied about the commentator having too much Capitalization [true.] and a bit too much Exclamation Marks [very true...you look like you fell on your exclamation point button when you over do that...]

Well, Miss Grammar Teacher's reply is below.
meh, we get you love your posts pixel perfect...moving on.
After another reply from the writer:
well, "Sweetie", If there ain't no red underline before even pressing the spellcheck button...well then I think the post shall be a Go-Go. and I didn't notice any spelling errors...I think you're meaning a "GrammarCheck" button...that would be useful. It'd ward of what i suspect to be My English teachers stalking me on the web.

A writer's reply later:
Yes, please, analyze the whole blog and write it down for us, can you? yesh please.

Even though I may seem to come off as a sloppy writer, I do check my grammar swiftly before every post is published, But being a writer both outside of school and not, I know that there are bound to be some errors in writing. I think that writing outside of academics should be a bit more casual, like a break, and that's how I do blogging for Stardoll. If there are some capitalization errors, then yes, there will be some.

Yeah, anyway, I'm just saying that if you are very Big on grammar, but you don't use it as a point against a person...I applaud you. You are a good person. Stay like that.
If you are big on grammar and you make sure to let the writer know of their small mistakes...well, poo on you. remember:
If it doesn't float your boat, just paddle it away before it sinks.
Words to live by.

This post did make me lol, I mean laugh!
ReplyDeleteHaha!
When people resort to correcting grammar and spelling, they are just desperate to nit-pick. Don't take it personally. I have had to learn that but it is very useful.
ReplyDeleteThe things that annoy me the most with grammar are no capital letters at the beginning of sentences or for the letter 'I' and the muddling up of the 'your/there/too etc. But I dont say anything because, well it doesn't really matter and people who pull others up on their grammar look ridiculous
ReplyDeleteI dont care about any other grammar stuff because I have appaling grammar myself so it would be fairly hypocritical if I did.
