Hello, after a long long while!
Hope you all are enjoying your weekend, mine just started and I'm about to start a rant. I kinda procrasted writing this...Which I really miss doing because ranting isn't in my everyday forte.
While I'm away from Stardoll and doing a good job of it, Aurelie and I are trying to regain aurelieke92 from Stardoll's clutches. We got it back, but now we're waiting for the dang password, so yeah.

Anyway, while i'm not on stardoll but just cruising through Reader when I get the chance, these well... medolls kept showing on my page. Well, they were barely traceable to medolls, but the post was helpful enough to show that they were, in fact, medolls.
below are some variations of these new species of medolls:

there's much more, but I found a post with all the medolls saved without a background (they found my secret; jk) and so I just decided to present the pictures from there.

Oh, stardoll. what has happened to you? And I'm not blaming the company either. The wonderfully creative members of Stardoll have started a new trend, and as creative as the trend is, I am not a fan of it.

There is a fine line between Creativity and well...Stardollian Creativity. It's so fine, that some of us don't know when we transcend between those two lines. These new...medolls (a very pale word to use) seem to plummet way past the line and into the depths of 'Stardoll Creativity'.
What is Stardoll creativity? In my Point of view, it's not something to own up to in your resume. Being this creative on Stardoll is usually just awaste matter of spending a lot of time on something that is really trivial in your day to day life.
No, I am not against creativity, because it is a wonderful thing to have, but i honestly wonder if those users ever pause in their Stardesign Hair shops and wonder what they will do with this talent. If they are so good with creating poses and faces like that, why not use a different output?
And the part that hurts the most is that they can never show this in a job interview, or a list of hobbies, because 'I made designs on a website called Stardoll' is not only lengthy, but unappealing. You will develop an artistic eye, but the eye is almost artificial, fake. You will never be limited to little hair pieces to bend and mold and color in life outside SD, and even if you are...you'd probably be working for Stardoll. So yeah. Keep your options open for that.
Also, the beauty of the medoll is gone. Hello, we're on a DRESS UP website? How about wearing those nice clothes stardoll makes for us, hm? Oh right, you must put a big fancy picture to make people vote you MSW. To be frank, when I said I wanted a non-LE member to win, I meant someone who could work with...let's say...Basics and still look amazing. Not a hugely decorated doll-cloud thing that looks like spoiled milk in the mimicked body parts. (no offence)
Make a magazine, Become a graphicer, write a couple articles, and I won't even utter a word. I support creativity like that, creativity that will last you until the end. You could become a graphic artist outside of Stardoll, you could become an editor or start your own magazine (though that would be hard, depending on circumstance), and writing articles? Boy, doing that has improved my writer's voice so much that I am reigning with confidence in my own AP English Language world. Doing the things like that, outside the website itself, will introduce you to a world you haven't met with before.
I guess there are positives to creating the well...dolls to look like mass sculptures, but I cannot see them clearly. A future with something like that seems muddled and cloudy.
so please just do something productive-ish.
and on that note, I am going to start on a new header because I am thoroughly bored with this one. (and I want to graphic something)
Have a nice day!

I do agree with you, They spend HOURS on a dressup site killing the point of the game, I stopped playing Sd, and as soon as I saw this, I was annoyed. I know, I would spend hours on SD as well, but that came to an end. They have creativity, but only put it towards stardoll, and not real life.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Another thing that bothers me is probably the price. In REAL money, that you could use for REAL clothes or, if you like being creative, a tablet? Or canvas and paint? Things that you could use for something in the future.
